The City of Melbourne’s Future Melbourne Committee has unanimously supported Brookfield’s student accommodation project at 166-176 Bouverie Street and 183-187 Grattan Street, Carlton.

The tower, designed by Jackson Clement Burrows Architects, will be 15 storeys high, and will replace three of the four existing buildings on the 1,327sqm site.

Several planning amendments were required to get the design over the line, including increasing setbacks.

Melbourne Councillor Davydd Griffiths voiced his delight at the project’s suitability to the area, saying, “There is so much consideration of what the students’ experience is going to be not just in terms of the built form, but in terms of the services and support that they will receive.”

Journal Student Living will manage the facility post-completion.
