Melbourne City Council approves plans for Acciona Geotech’s new 31-storey headquarters
The City of Melbourne has given Acciona Geotech the go-ahead to construct their new 31-storey national headquarters at the Lorimer Precinct in Fisherman’s Bend.
The design received unanimous approval at council and will be the first piece of a five-tower master planned community at Lorimer. At completion, Acciona Geotech’s tower will house ground-floor retail, 181 apartments, and 9,775 square metres of office space.
The Victorian State Planning Minister’s approval is now required for the project to move forward.
Fisherman’s Bend is Australia’s largest urban renewal project covering approximately 480 hectares in the heart of Melbourne. It features heavily in Melbourne Council’s Municipal Planning Strategy as a priority precinct and is receiving significant government investment to transform the area into a growth zone. It’s expected that by 2050, Fisherman’s Bend will be home to approximately 80,000 residents and provide employment for up to 80,000 people.
