The Victorian Government has endorsed plans for a 10-storey development by Lendlease, located adjacent to Melbourne’s iconic Young & Jackson Hotel.
Town Hall Place will sit above the new underground Metro Tunnel Town Hall Station, overlooking St Paul’s Cathedral, Flinders Street Station and Federation Square.
The A-grade development will house approximately 16,000 sqm of floor space, with new laneways, arcades and retail at ground level.
It will target a 6 Star Green Star Design & As Built v1.2 rating and pursue a WELL Gold Core rating. The premium office building will also be fully electric and powered by 100 per cent renewable energy.
Tom Mackellar, Managing Director of Development at Lendlease, explained the uniqueness of the project, saying, “The transformation of this site will showcase how smart over-station development can unlock the potential of our cities by linking key transport interchanges with exceptional retail, workplace, and lifestyle experiences.”
Lendlease will act as developer and builder for the development. Construction is expected to commence in 2024.
