Senior CA / Commercial Manager

This candidate has over 15 years of experience in commercial, procurement, and contract management in the Australian building and construction market. They have managed multi-million-dollar new build and refurbishment/fit-out projects across residential, industrial, and commercial construction for reputed companies as both a subcontractor and head contractor. Their experience also includes a solid understanding of contracts and procurement, and they have passed with distinction in Contract Law. They have an intimate understanding of the project life cycle from DA approval through to project handover. 

Project Values range from $100k to over $20M in value, and include commercial, healthcare, apartments, aged care and other institutional projects. 

In their current role as a Commercial Manager within a Tier 4 builder, the candidate has played a key role in setting the company on a high-growth trajectory, resulting in 200% revenue increase year-on-year for the last two financial years. They are responsible for the company-wide establishment and ensuring compliance with commercial and contractual policies and procedures, tracking and reporting on all commercial activities, working closely with the financial and operations teams. They have driven continuous business improvements resulting in 50% improvement in year-on-year profitability while avoiding any formal dispute/arbitration with any client/subcontractor. 

In their previous role as a Senior Contract Administrator in a reputable Tier 3 builder, the candidate managed the full life cycle of aged care projects, from application approval through to construction & handover. They prepared material take-offs, budgets, and cost analysis, liaised with design teams, managed all subcontractor packages, and maintained strong working relations with all stakeholders. They also assisted in managing risk and resolution of day-to-day issues, resulting in sole handling of multiple concurrent jobs, circa $25m each, and value engineering resulting in large savings of up to 20% on contracts let.
