Construction complete on the Victorian Heart Hospital in Clayton

Australia’s first specialist, standalone cardiac hospital has reached a major milestone this month, with major construction now complete by builder, John Holland.

Australia’s first specialist, standalone cardiac hospital has reached a major milestone this month, with major construction now complete by the builder, John Holland.

The $577 million landmark facility will be operated by Monash Health, in partnership with Monash University. It is based in the heart of the Monash Technology Precinct in Clayton.

The Victorian Heart Hospital will house 206 beds and a suite of specialist facilities, including cardiac theatres and cardiac catheterisation laboratories.

In total, the hospital is equipped to provide an impressive:

  • 2,150 cardiac surgeries
  • 28,300 emergency presentations
  • 108,000 consultations and outpatient appointments

The project was delivered in partnership with the Victorian Government. The first patients are expected to enter the facility in February 2023.
